Facebook VS Twitter
Social networking via online tools is the buzz of the moment. The 2 most talked about are definitely Facebook and Twitter, but which is the best? Lets have a look…
For those not quite in the know Social Networking is basically online communities of people who share information with each other via a tool such as Facebook. This is a very basic description but in essence it is exactly what it is.
Social networking is fantastic for keeping in touch with friends and family but is also a great method of keeping in touch with your customers and other interested parties. Updating your Twitter for example will notify all of your followers in seconds giving you huge exposure with customers. This is great for offering online deals and driving extra traffic to your website.
Anyway, on to my initial point. Which is better? Facebook or Twitter? And which is better for your business.
The main benefit of Facebook is its global reach. It is already well established. It is still developing and has yet to find a decent advertising model for companies and the recent design changes have made applications for Facebook far less accessible.
Of the 2, Twitter is definitely the most exciting at this time. Yet, it is the most elusive as Brands and companies are still trying to figure out the best way of using its micro-blogging capabilities. However, its definitely the way to go at the moment and you need not invest too much into running your own Twitter account.

Thanks for pointing this out.
Agree wholeheartedly that Twitter is the way to go… my concern is that being a well-followed active big-brand ‘Tweeter’ detracts from the message, as your followers can be bombarded with superfluous Tweets. A preferable solution is to set-up Twitter accounts for specific parts of the brand and to apply some marketing criteria to determine what messages are sent out to which account. It’s obvious, but a lot of big brands are jumping on the Twitter-bandwagon with single accounts and diluting their impact. I’ve also stopped following or accepting follow requests from some Tweeters with large ‘audiences’ as our respective messages are getting lost in the crowd - I’d rather target my Twitter streams at more interested parties.
